Spring is in the air! Can you smell the grills firing up?

For some of us it is always BBQ season, but others wait all winter to pull that grill out. If your grill has been sitting all winter, you are going to want to ensure it is in tip-top shape before firing it up! Here are some helpful tips to make sure you are ready!

Start with the outside!

Make sure you start by giving your grill a good cleaning on the outside, do this before attaching any propane tanks or hooking up to your gas line if you are using a gas BBQ. Spray the outside down with exterior grill cleaner or Dawn power action spray then let sit for about five minutes. Using a microfiber cloth give a good wipe down and rinse.

Check all your parts!

Now is the time to give your grill a good once over! Make sure you have no damage or rust. Don't forget to also check your igniter switch, lid hinges, grease trap, make sure everything is in good shape. Make sure to also check your propane tanks or gas lines! If you need to replace parts you will want to know that before you head outside with some steaks!

Clean the inside!

To clean the inside of your BBQ you will want to start by removing any loose ash or debris on the inside. Then you will heat your BBQ to high for 30 minutes to burn off any remaining debris, then let cool back down. Scrub your grates with a good brush, then wipe with a damp microfiber cloth. If you have persistent spots, try using a BBQ cleaner with a degreaser in it. Heat your BBQ back up, let it cool slightly and wipe down your grates with canola oil to season and prevent sticking (this should be done while it's still as hot as possible).

Time to stock up!

Now all you have left to do is stock up on supplies! Make sure your extra propane tank is full or you have an extra bag of charcoal, check your favorite rubs and sauces aren't expired and your cleaning brush is good to go!

Time for that backyard BBQ!

Invite your friends and family and fire up that grill! Summer is short and before you know it the snow will return and you will be dreaming of burgers hot off the grill!
